The History of Edward’s Walk
The Edward’s Walk branding refers back to historic Maldon and the Saxon era of Edward the Elder, who in 916 constructed a burh in Maldon, as part of his programme to reconquer (from the Danes) and fortify eastern England.
While there is no formal detailed history to the name of Edward’s Walk – it is true to say that today’s visitors of Maldon walk in the place of the original Edward known to the area. Our branding style reflects an historic Maldon with a modern feel.
Edward’s Walk is conveniently located at the top of Maldon High Street opposite All Saints Church. It is the most direct link from White Horse Lane Car Park to the high street. You can find a map of Maldon and our contact details on the Getting Here page.
